Description:

This is a short film about a woman and her child were they face racist remarks by 3 young men. In the film they are been harassed by 3 boys, instead she ignores their remarks, until her daughter had cut off her braids and told her mother that she didn’t want to be an Indian.

Filled with determination, she went to the school to confront one of the boys, with the help of the principal she was able to confront Ian. She told him that his remarks were hurting and she felt that they were treated as garbage. At the end of the film, Ian apologized, but that’s not always like that in the real world.

At first we chose this film because it was short, but after watching the film, it displayed how people face racism from other nationalities.

YWCA Stand Against Racism 2008

Description:

The video is about a group of people taking a stand against Racism. Over 60 organization gathered together to send a powerful message, that racism will no longer be tolerated. YWCA Princeton believed that racism must be eliminated. For instance, to show their support people put up signs, they signed peace pledges, and many other things.

Why? because of the statistics that racism happens in the work place. The stand against racism YWCA’s attempt is to be proactive and to bring the community together and send out a message that racism would no longer be tolerated and ignored.

We chose this video, because of its content. The video sends out a powerful message, on how many people are affected about this issue, and how they took action to stand in what they believe in, equal rights amongst all.

  • The first video, for Angela, is more like a movie, whereas, the 2nd video is more like a documentary,
  • YWCA Video contains interviews of people of their personal life experiences, what they want to do and how to stand against racism.
